Halloween in Sunriver

There are two types of people in the world: those who prefer the cheerful and sometimes maudlin emotional appeal of Christmas, and those who come to life with the first sighting of the skeletons, ghouls, and goblins that roam the streets on Halloween! If green slime runs through your veins and your heart beams black at the sight of all the sweets in that candy bowl, a Sunriver getaway at Halloween is destined to be in your future! This guide to the spooky and the sweet activities to explore on Halloween in Oregon will ensure your visit to Sunriver in October is spooktacular!

Spooktacular Fun for the Children

You’ll soon learn that the Village at Sunriver is where everything that is important happens, and that includes our annual Halloween celebration! Your baby shark, teenage dinosaur, or 5-going-on-30 princess will have the time of their lives going from store to store trick or treating, and rumor has it the merchants at the Village are known to give out the good candy! The annual pet costume contest is always a hilarious and sweet sight to see, as is the human costume contest. Both are free to public and they are two of the best events to go to when visiting Halloween in Oregon.

Grown-Up Frights

A good haunted house is always our favorite way to celebrate this spooky holiday, and the Scare Grounds Haunted House is one of the scariest in the country! Be sure to take your blood pressure pills before crossing the threshold of this frightening attraction because the sights, sounds, and sensations you will experience during your visit are sure to shoot your pressure sky high! Located at the Deschutes County Fairground in nearby Redmond, we recommend not bringing the littles with you; the scares can be a bit extreme for the younger set!

The Spirits are Real

Now whether you believe in an afterlife or you don’t, you have to admit there are some happenings that are unexplainable, and while Sunriver (and your Sunriver Pines vacation escape!) isn’t known for any ghostly happenings, you won’t have to drive far to check out the rumors. The Platypus Pub in nearby Bend offers spirits of multiple kinds. Famous for its spectacular selection of craft brews and for a shadowy figure that has been an uninvited guest since the 1970s, it’s a great place to have a good time and enjoy the goosebumps that appear should you view the apparition!
