A Beautiful Park with a Variety of Activities to Enjoy

During the pleasant summer months in Bend, Farewell Bend Park is a fun and convenient location for setting off on a float trip down the Deschutes River. It’s located within easy walking distance of the Old Mill District, Riverbend Park, and South Canyon Bridge by way of the extensive Deschutes River Trail.

Farewell Bend State Park is home to a gorgeous natural marsh area, as well as a boat launch for visitors who want to spend a little time on the waters of the Deschutes River without going tubing. There are also two viewing shelters, a large picnic shelter that can accommodate thirty-six people (making it a great place to plan a picnic in town with your guests), two smaller picnic shelters that host four people each, a boardwalk that runs along the river, and informative interpretive signage that educates visitors about the park and the area.

Visitors interested in walking, hiking, and biking will enjoy Farewell Bend Park immensely. In particular, the hiking trail loop that runs through the park offers visitors the chance to embark on an easy hike spanning three miles roundtrip, brimming with wildlife watching opportunities.

Families visiting Bend from Sunriver will love the park’s iconic playground, situated in the very center of the twenty-two acre park. Themed around Bend’s history as a logging town, this playground incorporates an interactive “lumber mill” for children to play on, providing a unique tribute to the city’s local history and culture while encouraging children to explore, play, and embrace their imagination.

Farewell Bend, OR is located at 1000 SW Reed Market Road and is open daily between the hours of 5:00am and 10:00pm year-round.
