Winter Meals That Please
After the festival, you may still find yourself ready for a meal—a good hot meal that fills your belly—and Spork has one of our favorite meals of all! Open for takeout only during the pandemic and located at 937 NW Newport Avenue in Bend, we figure after a long day at Winter Pride Fest, you will not mind taking a huge Mexican influenced meal home to your Sunriver Pines vacation escape. Every dish is handmade fresh from locally sourced ingredients whenever possible and their innovative meals never fail to please. Chilaquiles made with house made tortilla chips, Thai steak salad created with grilled bavette steak, and when you are really ready for something to warm you from the inside out, spicy fried chicken hits the spot! Starting with boneless chicken battered in rice flour and deep fried, they add a spicy sweet sambal chili sauce, green onion, toasted sesame, and jasmine rice; every bite is rich with spice, heat, and a simple sweetness that explains why this is one of our favorite winter meals!
As We Spring into Spring
The music continues to play as part two of the Sisters Folk Winter Festival makes a comeback on March 18 with a single band playing their hearts out for your approval! Imar, a Scotland-based band, brings its lyrical expertise to the mountains we love so much!
In April, our next-door neighbor, Bend, is host to a Spring Fling Home Brew Competition. Held the weekend of April 27th through April 29th, your journey will involve tasting the wares of our local brewers and voting for your favorite! It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it, and we doubt that you’ll have any complaints!
Memorial Day Weekend at the end of May brings a host of fun and excitement to Sunriver, including a day for the dogs. The Village hosts a series of events that star our precious pooches and should not be missed!
Farmer’s Markets for the Win
Filling a few hours of your Sunriver getaway with a visit to a farmers’ market offers simple pleasures you will never forget, and there are more than a few different markets in the area. Starting with the Northwest Crossing Saturday Farmers Market, NW Crossing Drive in Bend, this summer experience offers more than fresh produce it is where you can get fresh baked cakes and pastries, fragrant smelling bouquets of flowers to add a little extra charm to your vacation home away from home, and cute gifts for your pet sitter and plant waterer who are both working so hard for you as you play hard in the beautiful Northwest! As you drive about the area, a stop in Sisters, Oregon on a Sunday afternoon offers a chance to visit the Sisters Farmers Market, located at Fir Street Park. Featuring community events, more delicious foods (including a giant peanut butter cookie that is the size of a small plate), and some of the best fire roasted coffee you have ever tasted, this small but charming farmers’ market has been a Sunday Funday tradition for as long as we can remember! And finally, if you are choosing to stay close to your Sunriver Pines hideaway, you can head back to Bend for a visit to the Bend Farmer’s Market, 835 NW Wall Street. Turning a lazy Wednesday afternoon into a special event, this market has been in business for over 20 years and never fails to surprise us with the quality of products offered!
Ah, summer. While we really can’t choose a favorite season (as we mentioned before), summer in Sunriver always holds a special spot in our hearts, as it will do for you during your summer festival journey to our charming mountain village.

You can participate in a marathon, half marathon, or if you dare, our favorite event, the 72.3 BEASTMAN triathlon!
