Bros, buddies, pals, or friends—it doesn’t matter what you call them, but every man has that crew of men who have stood by them through bad decisions, good times, bad break-ups, and good relationships, and now is the time to show them how much you appreciate them! As you begin planning your guys’ getaway to Sunriver, we’ve compiled this guide of activities of things to do in Sunriver this weekend that will make this journey an unforgettable one!
Day 1: Take a Chill Night
Traveling can be tiring, and you’ve probably traveled a long way, so why not take this first night to chill and reconnect? Stop by Sunriver Marketplace at 18160 Cottonwood Road on your way into town and pick up some steaks, beer, and maybe some coffee for the next morning and stay in for the night!
Day 2: Working Your Way to the 19th Hole
Nothing will make your heart beat faster than spending the day on a golf course, cursing at your bad shots, celebrating the good ones, and ending the day with beverages at the 19th hole. Woodlands Golf Course at 17890 W Core Road integrates the best of the Sunriver landscape into a course that is both challenging and serene. We don’t know how they do it, but they manage to combine both so your day on the green ends up being a peaceful one. It’s definitely one of the best things to do in Oregon this weekend for your guys’ getaway to Sunriver.
Day 3: Pop Open a Cold One
This part of Oregon is known for its breweries, and we can’t think of a better way to spend some quality time with your buds than with a tour that celebrates beer! Start with the Sunriver Brewing Company at 56840 Venture Lane to try their popular Vicious Mosquito IPA, then move on to Deschutes Brewery at 901 SW Simpson Avenue in Bend and their Twilight Summer Ale before ending up at Mountain Jug, which isn’t really a brewery, but serves some fantastic brews. This journey may not be as memorable as you would like due to an excess of product!
Day 4: Cast a Line
Another of the best things to do in Sunriver this weekend for your guys’ getawy is fly fishing. The time-honored tradition of fishing is generally a solitary one, or one that is only shared with a select few, but these guys deserve a day of drowning worms, and the Central Oregon area where Sunriver is located is home to 100 lakes and nearly five times that many miles of river, making it easy to find a spot where the fish are biting! Renting gear from the Sunriver Fly Shop and heading out to Deschutes River for a few hours of fly fishing promises to be the highlight of your guys’ getaway.
Day 5: Kayaking the Deschutes
It’s back to the river on this 5th day of your journey, only this time you’ll be pitting your wits against the river from aboard kayaks! Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe has a large selection of rentals and offers daily shuttles to the river or one of the Cascade Lakes for a day of fun and excitement—and more beer that you’ll have to tote yourself!
Day 6: Going Out with a Bang
On the last night of your journey, it’s time to hit the bars, or just one bar in particular! The Wallow Bar & Grill at 17363 Spring River Road is one of those bars in which you and your pals will feel at home from the first moment you step inside. They offer pub grub that is a step above what you normally expect from a small-town bar; we recommend trying the elk burger! Play some video games, listen to the jukebox, and spend your final evening in town celebrating friendships that last!
